What a pointless shambles.
This is the stupid thing about all this.
The armband didn't matter. It's only important as an ambassador type thing in that the England Captain represents what the team is supposed to stand for.
It only became an issue when Capello decided to give it back to someone who'd been stripped of it in disgrace, and in doing so take it away from someone else for no reason, pissing them and other people off...and then the person he gave it back to, who'd never actually done anything to redeem themselves or even stop disgracing themselves in the first place, disgraced themselves again.
Capello managed to make a big important fucking mess out of something that didn't actually matter...and yet people still think he was doing a good job.
Some people just can't handle the England job, even if they're good managers elsewhere. Capello should have gone back in 2010 when it became clear he was one of these people.
