I don't think it's wrong or harsh at all.....I've always had time to praise RVP for his game and attitude and claimed for him to be on the level of Torres, Drogba and Rooney(when the were Top 4's leading men)...but never expected him to completely set a new bar for the Premiership, which is exactly what he's done this year imo and the final few months of last season.
And I think he has had one stretch prior to this where(with assists) he had a hand in a goal per game being mid 08/09....he's gone above that now, so that's not really a lie either, unless you are counting like 5 game stretches or something.
Also, Rooneys was 26 goals in 29 before injury
