I've seen that a few times. Someone guarding the post and handling the ball but the ball still goes in and the goal is given with no card to follow. That's pretty much the essence of football there. Rules and refs are there to make the game fair, not to actively punish when there's no need. That's one of the reasons why you get a booking for telling the ref to book another player.
