It depends where you're from really. Lots of students (18-22) will wear a shirt around campus and that's where a lot of the words are exchanged. But unless you're actually going to see the team you're wearing's shirt/jersey it's a bit odd to do above the age of 25. But this is coming from someone that lives in the 3rd largest city in the country. I'm sure if you go to somewhere in Kansas there's no problem with wearing an NFL/MLB jersey any day of the week.
