FA Premier Reserve League
Leeds United 0
Manchester United 2
Elland Road, Leeds

Johnny Evans scored his first goal for the Reserves as Ricky Sbragia's side overcame Leeds United at Elland Road.

Giuseppe Rossi also netted a penalty as United bounced back last week's shock home defeat to Sunderland with a deserved win over a strong Whites side.

Gerard Pique had already thumped a header against Neil Sullivan's post when Rui Marques rashly brought down Lee Martin inside the area after 11 minutes.

Rossi duly converted the kick for his second goal of the season, sending Sullivan the wrong way.

17-year-old Evans doubled United's lead 11 minutes later as he glanced home Markus Neumayr's corner.

The hosts rarely threatened, and Sullivan had to be alert to deny Martin and Kenny Cooper establishing a three-goal lead before the interval.

The second half saw few clear-cut chances, although United were given a huge boost by the return of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake as a second-half substitute.

United: Lee, Simpson (Shawcross 88), Pique, J Evans, Bardsley, R Jones, Neumayr, Gibson, Martin (S Evans 88), Cooper (Blake 74), Rossi.
Substitutes: Zieler, Rose.

-- Great to see Blake back in action!
