Spireites sign Man U striker
League One promotion hopefuls Chesterfield have completed the signing of Manchester United striker Colin Heath on a permanent deal until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old Chesterfield-born marksman has spent two-weeks training with the Spireites and agreed a deal with his home-town club late on transfer deadline day.
"Colin has been training with us for a couple of weeks and, now he has become available, we are keen to give another local lad the chance of playing first-team football for Chesterfield," said manager Roy McFarland.
Heath - who enjoyed a six-month loan spell with league rivals Swindon earlier this season - became a trainee at Old Trafford in 2000 and was a prolific scorer at youth level.
He signed professional forms with United in July 2004 and was a regular in Brian McClair's reserve-team.
Heath joins fellow Red Devil Phil Picken on loan at Saltergate.
