And why not?
You'll have to admit - Rio has a lot in his game that makes him so much more than a defender. He distributes the ball so well and is so composed technically on the ball to make space for himself in midfield. Rio has a lot of offensive qualities in his game and they are going to have the right stage to be brought out when he is in midfield. We have brought in two defenders and probably because Rio will probably not play any more in defence. I'd trust the defence with Wes Brown and Nemanja Vidic at CB with Rio in front of them. In spite of the defeat at Blackburn, this arrangement gives me plenty of confidence. The mistakes will go out once they get a couple of decent games.
Smith is picking up very fast in midfield and is always improving in tackling and the steel he brings in midfield is right now second to none in our team and he may just as well be used a CM, I say.
