thanks for that excellent piece, Tom. I started going in the 60s as a lad - I was totally dazzled by Denis Law, who to this day is my favourite memory of the era. Brilliant in the air and like mercury on the deck - but it seemed every time I marvelled at him, the old fella would say "aye, he can play a bit but he's not a patch on Tommy Taylor". Which really put Taylor out of the realms of comrehension for me, because I couldn't perceive of anyone greater than "The King"....but the old man would say "Tommy'd head the ball harder than Law could shoot". So many of us missed so much in not seeing that team, but looking at the crowds of the day, they weren't short on support and admiration.
