I'm not comparing Tevez constribution to Rooney's either. I'm simply looking back over the 4 or so years since Rooney has been a United first team player and decided that he isn't worth £27m in my view.

But that was the price we had to pay for him then - take it or leave it. We wanted Rooney and because of who we are we had to pay for him - over the odds no doubt. Same with Rio. Looking at it today, it was an obscene amount of money. Nevertheless, I'm glad we got him because he is absolutely central to United's success - certainly on a par with Ronnie despite the latter's better goalscoring record.
