If it follows the pattern of previous Roma games (I've been 3 times with English teams, twice with United) then the city will be safe till it gets dark (Place Fiori is the only place to really avoid, but that's out your way anyway).
Buses are put on from the middle of a park not far from the Spanish Steps (the name escapes me). You will be given a map with your voucher and told to get them at 5-6pm - DO NOT (you will just be sat in the car park for 3 hours and if you're on the first convoy you may well get bricked). The safety of the convoys will probably depend on whether United walk up again - therefore distracting the ultras.
Get to the buses for about 7.00-7.30 (assuming it's an 8.45 KO) and you should be in the first convoy. Don't get on the first bus (the highest risk of getting attacked). Stand with your back to the windows on the right and wear a hat.
At the ground do not speak with the coppers, and do not photograph them. In fact at all times stay a baton's length away from the fuckers - they have a tendancy to strike for no reason whatsoever (their fave trick is to turn their batons around and hit you with the handle).
In the ground stand at the back to the right (the missiles will come from the Curva to your left - glass bottles full of piss are the ones to watch for). Wear a hat!
Make sure you have a piss/get a drink before the start of the second half as they'll keep you in with no access to the concourse for an hour after the final whistle.
Get the same buses back (same rules apply), then the bus shuttle from the main station to the airport (about 45 mins).
You will be safe as houses mate.
Enjoy, wish I was there.
EDIT: Don't be tempted to get a cab to the ground. They'll drop you off at the wrong end!

Cheers for that Ralphie, i read the PM before i read this post. Good advice, ill def take it on board. I feel like im goin to a fuckin war zone by listening to some of the stories, but ive known loads of lads that have been before and all seem to have come through it unscathed (barring a few scrapes).
I should be arriving into ciampino around 4pm, straight from there to city centre, pick up tickets and then take your directions from there.
Thanks again fella.
