When Sunderland played Liverpool Evans was given the job of watching Torres and he had him in his pocket most of the game. Only a rush of blood to the head trying to win a header he should never have gone for (inexperience) let Torres in and he then scored.

Pique might be the mors composed of the 2, more Rioesque if you will, but i think Evans is a better defender.

If you get the chance to watch a full Sunderland game this season i suggest you do it. He's looked really good and he's a big reason why they've managed to really improve the amount of goals they were conceding.
