Not only that but I believe they've beaten those teams, with the exception of the Rockets/Celtics which I believe they're even in wins, most of the time in their head to head matchups this season. Don't forget they are also currently holding the BEST RECORD in the NBA. I know it doesn't mean much as they haven't really been this good in a while(if ever!) and the playoffs are a totally different picture. I see either them or the Spurs/Lakers against either the Celtics/Cavs in the Finals this season.

Boston have the best record in the NBA, sorry. Here's the stats :-
Boston won 56 lost 15 Avr 0.789
Detroit won 50 lost 21 Avr 0.704
New Orleans won 49 lost 21 Avr 0.700
Besides, experience in the playoffs will count. Spurs now have Brent Barry back. Pistons will be there abouts. Celtics will be. I don't know if New Orleans will carry that into the playoffs. They have a magnificent record, however, I don't think that they can beat either the Spurs or the Pistons in a best of 5 or 7 series. I just don't think that they can win consecutively playing at Spurs or playing at Detroit.
