Between 99 and 01 Becks was supreme, behind only Keano in importance and performance. Especially as Scholes still wasn't a certain first choice in 99 (Butt played basically the same amount of games, including most of the big away matches).
As Frosty said, his media persona makes many people forget how bloody good he was. Particularly those three seasons 99-01.
