I was watching a show about monkeys on Animal Planet a while ago and they showed some chimpanzees using a rock as an anvil and they used another rock as a hammer. They hammered nuts against their "anvil" to break the nutshells. The narrator said that the monkeys hadn't been doing this xx years earlier and that they had developed their knowledge about it over time. Quite fascinating to see how animals develop in this way.
