I've been one of Hargreaves' biggest critics this season, and I stand by what I have said about him so far, and I still don't think he's the missing piece of the jigsaw in midfield. However, today I was really impressed, not just with his performance, but mainly his passion. First of all, for a midfielder, playing at right back, I thought he did a splendid job. No, I don't see him as a long term solution at right back, and he was by no means perfect, but he did well today, in very difficult circumstances.
But what impressed me most was his attitude and passion. Sure, some people will say he, and Rio, were out of order blah blah blah, but, for me, it showed the hunger and desire he has to win. He's a player that will give his all and more to the cause, and isn't just at United to pick up his wages, but to win trophies for the club. That passion, grit, and determination is something I love to see in a United player, and hopefully, if he can add consistently good performances to that attitude, he will go on to be a success.
Anyway, before I start rambling to much, I just want to say, well done Owen, you showed real fight today, and hopefully there is a lot more to come.
