PS3 is not newer in design terms. Its newness in release date terms didn't help it in North America. And if one of those 2 consoles you refer to is the Wii, then neither are at the moment selling anywhere near what the Wii is shifting. However, I do no view the Wii as a direct competitor to the PS3 in terms of sales, it's more complex than that, the Wii is something a little different, and its sales are opening a whole new audience to games. I really do not think that Wii sales will hurt Xb360 or PS3 sales during this cycle.
