The rules are clear from the start 10, and it is.
Getting a medal doesn't mean anything, if you win it as the big boys, no medal will take away your name from the history.
If you're not in it, no medal will put your name in the history book either.

So answer me this hypothetical question . . .
No.2 goalkeeper doesn't play all season until the Champions League Final, during which, No.2 goalkeeper makes fantastic saves and keeps his team in the game. He then wins them the match by making two saves in the penalty shoot-out.
Does he deserve a medal?
