Having said that, I've been making my own attempts to find positives should Ronaldo leave.
First, Rooney seems to play better when Ronaldo isn't around. I can't for the life of me find a plausible explanation for this, and I suspect it may have just been coincidence in the past. Second, and this isn't even really a reason, I don't like him that much. I like him because he's absurdly good. But the size of the discrepancy between how much I like him and how good he actually is says something to me.
But however you dress it up, if Ronaldo leaves, we'll bring in an inferior player, and will be significantly worse off next season.
