They have a new manager who will have to deliver if he is to avoid being a one season wonder, and risking Pique at this stage of his career is just insane. Of course if they are buying Pique as a squad player then fair enough but he might not get many more games than he would get at United.

I would have thought the choice for Pique was between a club that will play him each week, or being at a big club like United, or indeed Barca, where he will have to wait, and improve significantly, before he becomes a regular.

In 5 years' time I think Pique will be a super player but I'd be concerned about the number of school boy errors he made this season and will no doubt be making next season too. Top teams just cannot avoid to drop points to basic errors.
