English Premier League managers have been told that signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could be the difference between success and failure next season.

The Dutch striker is in demand this summer with top clubs, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan, lining up bids to take him away from Ajax.

But having spent four years with Charlton Athletic, Dennis Rommedahl, his teammate in Amsterdam, said England should be his next destination and he would not be a gamble.

Rommedahl said: “Maybe Klaas will want to go to Spain or Italy, but I think he will suit England and if I was a manager in the Premier League I would buy him.

“I would recommend it to him too. It’s a fantastic league to play in and a great experience. It depends on what he wants and what he wants to achieve, but he can be a hero in the Premier League.

“Proven scorers are hard to get and he is one of the top talents in Europe at the moment.

“It will be a big blow for Ajax if we lose him because he can score around 25 goals a season.”

Rommedahl, 29, was enjoying life back in the Netherlands, having first shone with PSV Eindhoven before sampling life in the top flight in England at Charlton.

“It’s fantastic to be back to my second home in Holland,” said Rommedahl, who has won 75 caps for Denmark.

“It’s good to play and I’m enjoying my time again because it wasn’t easy in my final days at Charlton. My plan is to do well at Ajax and then see what happens, but I wouldn’t say no to playing in England again.
