It's very difficult, at least down south.

First you have to secure your FA registration which cost £130 last time I did a few years back, then you have to phone the local council to secure a pitch. This is where it gets shit, because if there's a wait for a pitch you don't find out until june/july and by then you have to pay costs to whatever league you are joining. In turn your local league might not let you join without a guaranteed pitch.

So in essence, get on to the FA and start the registration process, then phone your local council about pitch availability. DO IT RIGHT NOW because the FA raise their prices this month for late registration and you need to secure a pitch ASAP.
