If you've just won the premiership and the Champions League then you probably have a pretty decent side already. There is a real danger that you can add top players and end up making things worse - Ballack and Shevchenko joining Chelsea being the perfect example.
There is a substantial risk involved in these sort of moves. Of course Ronaldinho would be brilliant to watch but the chances are that he would cost us points and deny us the chance to win the title and the Champions League. A quick look back at his career does suggest that his impact is very hit and miss.
