Deluded Dossena:
New signing Andreas Dossena has started strongly at Anfield by claiming that Liverpool are on the 'same level' as Manchester United.
The Italian left-back completed his move from Serie A side Udinese on Friday, following the signing of fellow full-back Philip Degen from Borussia Dortmund.
Dossena has signed a four-year deal at Anfield, and replaces John Arne-Riise, who completed his £4million move to Roma last week.
The deal is thought to be worth around £8million, and Dossena seems bullish about his Liverpool's prospects ahead of the new season.
He told the Liverpool website: "Liverpool are a great team, and it is great to be linked to such a famous club.
"I want to play Champions League football, the Reds have already won it and they often get to the big games.
"In England, they are on the same level as Manchester United."
Liverpool are also thought be closing in on a £3million move for Brazilian keeper Diego Cavalieri from Palmeiras.
Juninho Parmigiani, the player's agent said: "We still cannot say that everything is closed because there are some things between Liverpool and Palmeiras and other details in the contract (to sort out).
"I believe everything is going to be solved this weekend.
"If everything goes as it was agreed, he is going to sign the contract and be introduced."
