I just made the point that he had next to no reasonable competition, which is, of course, partly down to his brilliance, but there are other factors to consider. The Ferraris were dire today (you've got to admit they're not normally that bad), and Kovaleinen isn't really a fair yardstick to measure Hamilton's progress because Heikki, despite being a lovely bloke, is a fairly shit driver. Alonso ran Hamilton close last season (they finished level on points), and look where he is now.

The car plays a massive part, but all credit to Hamilton. He's really on top at the moment and I think he's got this season in the bag if he just keeps this up.

So, no, I'm not saying Hamilton doesn't deserve this. I'm saying I always find it boring when Formula One goes through these phases where one driver/car combination is just unbeatable. We had to suffer five long years of it with Schumacher, I thought with this new generation we might have a more even field (like last season).
Today was perhaps the first day that the McClaren has been unbeatable all season (in Hamiltons hands), and you're bored of it already?!

There's a motor series for you, its called A1 GP. Go and watch that. And when you're bored because it isn't the pinicle of motor sport, come back and appreciate how good F1 really is!

They made absolutely the right decision to remove driver aids at the start of this season. We've had some of the best races for years. Its not like driving on a computer game for them anymore, its a real test which is sorting the men from the boys. Great prospects like Vettel, Kubica and Hamilton are all getting the absolute most out of their cars, while the others are making mistakes and falling down the grid. Its great entertainment, and its really competitive stuff

Need I remind you, with the talk of even fields, that going into this race we had a 3 way tie for the championship, with Kubica just 2 points behind...
