It's always better to have one teammate with you imo, make the rider more relaxed.
But you are right, the other favourites are on their own too so. Lotto bought Popovych to help Evans on the last climb but he isn't good enough.
The rest day has come at an ideal time indeed. But still you have that mental problem because you had that crisis in the last stage.
Remember that Giro of 2002? Evans just fell apart, while in the pink jersey on the last climb of the Giro and lost it. He will be thinking about that I'm sure.
