Here's a not unlikely series of events:

Liverpool sign Robbie Keane and Barry
We miss out on Berbatov and either lose Ronaldo to Real Madrid or hold onto an unsettled player who fucks up our team spirit by sulking about missing out on a massive pay-day
Arsenal "one big signing" fails to settle in and Adebayor "does a Ronaldo"
Chelsea lose Lampard and/or Drogba and Big Phil struggles to adapt to PL football

If all of these things happen, I reckon Liverpool have as good a chance of anyone at winning the league. Easy to forget they weren't all that many points off the top last season. Closer than they have been in ages.
