I think he needs regular first team football in order to develop more than we need him next season.
Sure, he'd be handy coming off the bench at the end of a match if we dont have that option from Berbatov or Manucho, but we dont need him that much if they both arrive.
On the other hand, he'll improve immeasurably after a full season of games in the premiership, scoring goals every other week. He'd come back a much better player who would have a lot bigger chance of making it at the club. Its quite possible he could come back ready to seriously challenge Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov and Manucho or whoever else for their starting spot.
But he's nowhere near that right now. And he wont be come the end of the season if he gets less than 15 starts next season.
