Brief report from last nights game.
United Reserves 2 Wolves reserves 0
United started with a front pairing of Nardiello and Bellion.
Midfield of Eagles, Jones, Richardson and the bloke who was recently on lone with Barry Fry at Peterborough.
Tate Lynch Pugh and Tierney made up the defence with Carrol in goal.
First half was largely forgettable. One chance for Wolves with Silas shooting wide after getting clean through.
And on the stroke of half time, the ever impressive Jones should have put United ahead after a great cross from Eagles was cut back to him on the edge of the area by Richardson. As it was, the ball just rose over the bar with the 'keeper beaten.
Bellion showed signs of good hold up play, and it would seem UNited's coaches are trying to improve this side of his game. At times he glides past people with ease, but holding it up and laying it off are just as important for a stiker no matter how fast they are in my opinion.
The second half saw Bellion taken off and Eddie Johnson brought on. United passed the ball much better this half. Johnson worked really hard chasing up front, and gave the midfield someone to pass the ball into feet to.
The first goal when it came was excellent. Pugh sent a wicked left foot cross from midway inside the Wolves half for Nardiello to rise and head superbly past the wolves Keeper from about 8 yards.
1-0 United. About 70-75 mins played I think.
Nardiello was withdrawn for American Neil Cooper to join Johnson up front.
United's second was scored by the hugely talented Chris Eagles. A good move from United saw the ball reach cooper on the right of the area. He had the vision to lay it inside to Eagles, who finished low and controlled across the goal into the bottom left hand corner.
United 2-0 Wolves
Tate had a great game, looked strong and concentrated very hard. Also some of the long range ground passes from the lad in midfield we recently loaned to Peterborough (name?) were very impressive too.
Richardson was a little dissapointing, and lost the ball several times while trying to dribble.
Still, a second win in a row for United, with yet again many good young players showng what they can do.
