My favorite drama series is House where Hugh Laurie is excellent, he gives a Golden Globe worthy performance in every episode and the character he plays is probably the most intriguing one I've ever seen. I don't understand why people in the UK don't like House.
As far as comedies go, The Office US is the best comedy series right now. Also, 30 Rock and How I Met Your Mother are two quite enjoyable series.
