Rooney is amazing at both roles. The key is to get someone to play alongside him. Someone who, when Wayne drops deep to collect the ball which he loves to do, pushes forward themselves. Or someone who can collect the ball from deeper and play through Wayne, who is fantastic at making the right runs in behind defences when played up top consistently. I think Berbatov should be capable of playing that role.
