Tate to leave

Manchester United defender Alan Tate is on the brink of sealing a permanent move to Swansea City.
The tough-tackling centre back has spent two separate spells on loan at Vetch Field but returned to Old Trafford recently, and made an appearance in the reserve team defeat to Everton last week.

Brian Flynn is hopeful of wrapping up a deal to sign the 21-year-old this week, with talks underway in an attempt to complete the signing.

Tate also had a temporary stint with United's feeder club Royal Antwerp in 2001/2002, but has been unable to work his way into Sir Alex Ferguson's first team squad plans.

The Swans have also confirmed the arrival of West Ham's Shaun Byrne, on loan, as the Welsh side, still in the FA Cup after their heroics against Preston at the weekend, look to bolster their resources.
