He carried on playing the match from memory, it was just a lovely finish and very well received by the Stretford End, he gave them a little nod to those who clapped it. I remember watching it and, having a few beers in me as it's on late here, I applauded it as soon as it hit the net despite being one of them daft drunk Reds who abuses fuck out of the opposition via the safety of my living room.
Ashton was one of those big, solid players who looked a little clumsy but was ultimately a very skilful and succesful striker and there was a story a few weeks back about Fergie should take Heskey to Old Trafford. Well not quite, we could have seen a fit Dean Ashton at Old Trafford at some point as I think he'd have been a great foil for Rooney.
