It really isn't, if Iran was not hellbent on developing nuclear weapons then the West would not be considering action against her, Iran is the only country in the Middle East developing such capabilities and similarly it is the only country being looked at closely by the Pentagon. In terms of fundamentalist outlook the closest Middle East country to Iran is Syria, especially with regarding to their feelings about Israel and material support for terrorist organisations - and of course a country that borders Israel, though because they unlike Iran are not going down the nuclear route there is no western threat against them.
