They are not in serious debt, but they don't have a lot of cash either. Their main shareholder (and ex-president) comes from a family (Brother is President of Vila-Real) that have a lot of businesses in that part of Spain, including Pamesa (ceramic company), and Mercadona (Supermarket chain) amongst other things. They are businessmen, and do not pile money into the clubs like the big blue Russian does. They treat the clubs like little playthings really, as long as it doesn't cost too much, and will sell and buy players if it makes good business sense. Where did most of the Mendieta money go for example, it doesn't need much working out, as it was not re-invested into the club. They also have some very good youngsters coming through.

It's just how they work, there is not serios pressure for them to win anything, as they are never expected to do so, and the supporters do not demand it in the same way as Real Madrid and Barcelona supporters do. Them lot have a chip on their shoulders though, they reckon (like a lot of our supporters) that it's their divine right to win anything and everything. Valencia is not under that kind of pressure. They will sell IMO if a decent offer is made.
