Big Sam on Diouf

Boss Sam Allardyce believes new signing Mame Biram Diouf will bring a new dimension to the Rovers team.

The Senegalese striker has made an immediate impression since moving to Ewood Park on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old scored in the pre-season friendly against Hearts and was on target again for his country in midweek.

And Big Sam hopes he can continue his scoring spree during the early stages of the new campaign.

The manager said: "He's an inexperienced man in the Premier League. That goes without saying, because he hasn't been here for that long.

"They plucked him from Norway, where he was playing his football, and he has since become a Manchester United player and a Senegalese international.

"Sir Alex wants him to play first-team football, which is limited for him at Manchester United.

"With his genuine pace, which is something we haven't got, and the way he's started this week, scoring two goals in two games, when he gets the opportunity to play for Blackburn, we obviously want him to continue that sort of goalscoring form.

"So, he's a different type of player to any other player we've got in the squad, which makes us a stronger force in the front line."
