MANCHESTER UNITED have joined the £15million battle for France midfielder Yann MíVila.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, along with his assistant Mike Phelan, made a personal check on MíVila, 20, in Rennesí 2-0 home defeat against Marseille on Friday night.
Fergie was there to assess Marseille, whose goals came from Loic Remy and Lucho Gonzalez, ahead of Tuesday nightís Champions League match at Old Trafford.
But the Daily Star Sunday can reveal that the United boss also took the opportunity to see MíVila (right) Ė the new hot property in France.
Also keeping an eye on the powerful defensive midfielder on Friday were Liverpoolís talent-spotter Damien Comolli and Tottenham assistant- manager Kevin Bond.
And Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has also declared his interest in MíVila, who has established himself in the France team this season after representing his country at every level from Under-16s.
MíVila will be delighted at Unitedís interest, though.
He has gone on record to reveal: ďManchester United is the club of my dreams.
ďIt is a very prestigious club and I dream to play for them.Ē
If Owen Hargreaves fails to win his fight for fitness, MíVila would look to be the ideal replacement for the England midfielder in the United squad.
MíVila is valued at £15m but as interest grows, so could the fee demanded by Rennes.
One top scout told the Daily Star Sunday: ďYannís in such demand the bidding could end up being closer to £20m.ĒYann MíVila
