Looking at Arsenals team today they will be fully rested for this.
We can go there and score, then it should be truly beyond them. I don't even see why we can't go there and win. ------------------ VDS ------------------- JOS ---- Rio/Evans -- Vidic ------- Evra Ronaldo --- Fletcher -- Carrick -- Ando ------------ Tevez ----- Berbatov------- Possibly moving to a 4-3-3 ------------------ VDS ------------------- JOS ---- Rio/Evans -- Vidic ------- Evra ------ Fletcher -- Carrick -- Ando ------ Ronaldo -------- Berbatov ------- Tevez |

I agree with you about most of the players you chose. Van der Sar is obvious, we also don't need to discuss on defenders, we'll wait what's about Evra, but I don't think it's something serious - Fergie probably didn't want to risk another knock. I'm also happy to see Sheasy in a good form, he deserves it. After today's game we can see that midfield in London will be the same as it was in Manchester on Wednesday, Ronaldo will play definitely, but I don't know who will Fergie pick from group of Rooney, Berbatov and Tevez. |

VDS
O'Shea Vidic Ferdinand/Evans Evra Fletcher Carrick Anderson Ronaldo Berbatov Tevez Subs: Foster, Brown, Rafael, Scholes, Giggs, Park, Rooney. Yes, Rooney probably wouldn't start this game. He'll come on if we are really chasing the goals. I wouldn't start Evra either if we have decent cover for him, but oh well. 1-1. |

Vds
O'Shea Rio/Evans Vidic Evra Fletcher Andy Carrick Ronaldo Tevez Rooney 1-1 with the Champions going through. Will be tough especially if Arsenal go one up in the beginning of the match. |

Am I right in suspecting that Evra, Rooney and Tevez are one yellow card away from missing the final, should we get through?
I might consider using Park to protect Rooney; difficult call to make. It seemed strange to keep Rooney on for 90 mins at Mid if he is starting on tues. At the same time we probably need to score at least once and Rooney offers us a lot in terms of goal threat. I think we might use: Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson in central midfield. Then Park and Tevez to work hard in the wide areas and get forward when we break. And leaving Ronaldo free to do his thing. Otherwise Arsenal will have play of space for their fullbacks to launch attacks and try to overload us on the wings. |

Its too big a risk not to start Rooney. If he does miss the final so be it. We cant afford to look that far ahead. I've never seen SAF do something like this.
He did a good job on Walcot in the first leg and will be needed to protect Evra in this leg as well. Imagine how stupid it would look if we were to go out having saved Rooney for the final? Its nonsense imo. |

Arsenal have to attack, with Ronaldo's pace hopefully we can counter attack and catch them out of position. I think Rooney should start on bench, we need him in the final and he needs a rest. Berbatov and Tevez have the potential to be a good partnership if they can both be selfless, and take their opportunities. They are going to have to work together. When they do we get goals.

Tevez and Rooney are one yellow card from suspension, but you have to agree that it will be more difficult without Rooney in (hopefully) the final. With Rooney's situation I really expect him on the bench. |

It's too hard to call the winner of this game as far as I'm concerned. It's just as likely that we go there and play them off the park to win 3-0 or something as it is that we think we'll do well and then they steamroll us like Liverpool did when we got too confident earlier in the season

The only thing i'd consider is moving Tevez to the bench and playing Berbatov. But that'll depend on the tactics we decide to use, do we follow the idea of defending from the front with Tevez and Rooney pressing. Or do we give the Arsenal defense the ball and allow Berbatov to protect the ball (which he's so good at).
Personally, i'd go with Berbatov in this leg. |

exact same line up as last game
fergie got it spot on..... we looked defensively solid, controlled the game and we will score at the emirates with that team berbatov was ok today but with tevez, fletcher, rooney and anderson in the team arsenal won't have a chance to settle into their passing style which makes them a good side |

It's a risk with Rooney, Tevez and Evra one yellow away from suspension. I could see Rooney, especially, on the bench.
VDS O'Shea Rio/Evans Vidic Evra Carrick Fletcher Anderson Ron Tevez Berb Our midfield 3 were all rested today and may be too much for Arse to cope with. |

There should be a yellow card amnesty in the semi-finals.
On topic: this could go either way. We could dominate the game again like we did at Old Trafford, or we could get slaughered like we did at The Emirates earlier in the season. Should be a real cracker, either way! |

You have just reminded me that game at Emirates in November. Absolutely fantastic, I would say that it was one of the best games to watch this season in Premier League (yes, even more enjoyable than Liverpool - Arsenal 4:4).

Team should be...
GK: VDS RB: O'Shea CB: Ferdinand CB: Vidic LB: Evra RM: Ronaldo CM: Fletcher CM: Carrick CM: Anderson LM: Park CF: Rooney Subs: Foster, Rafael, Brown, Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov, Tevez Cant for the life of me see us not scoring at least once and to be honest I pretty confident that we wont get beat either. We're well overdue a win there but I'll go for a score draw |

Rooney's in too good form to be dropped. He just has to play the game like he's already on a yellow and not do anything silly. It's too much of a risk not to play him. He's been our best player by far recently, and our whole game could go to shit if he's not on the pitch. This is the biggest knock-out tie we've ever played against a traditional domestic rival. We need all our best players.
---------------VDS O'Shea---Ferdinand---Vidic---Evra ----Fletcher---Carrick---Anderson Ronaldo-----Berbatov-----Rooney I think Berbatov could be key in this game. Tevez doesn't keep possession well, and we can't keep gifting the ball to them, because they'll be more dangerous and ambitious at home. Berbatov put in a textbook if unspectacular performance in Porto, effortlessly keeping the ball up front and starving the opposition of possession. We'll need to do this again. Bring Tevez on for Rooney if we're in a good position to see out the game, and we don't want Rooney picking up a booking. |
