Vidic and Evans - oh yea that shite defensive partnership that broke clean sheet records last season, and Vidic who's kept Drogba quiet nearly every time he's faced him - what a donkey. Fletcher, Carrick & Anderson, that awful midfield trio that absolutely destroyed Arsenal in the CL last season. With such shite players on our team, no wonder everyone's got such an inferiority complex. |

I reckon our best chance of really getting at them is trying to expose Ivanovic like we did in the Community Shield. Evra and whoever starts on the left are going to be really important.
Valencia has a tough job too with keeping Cole quiet. Given developments about the squad i'm now pretty certain it will be: VDS
O'Shea Vidic Evans Evra Fletcher Carrick Anderson Valencia ---------- Giggs Rooney |

the point i was trying to make was that of these sets of players, it's ours who have won the last 3 titles whilst getting a european cup winners medal whilst also reaching an extra final. on paper, chelseas team sounds stronger but then it has done for the last few years and yet we've generally been alright. on paper. shevchenko was a better player than saha and ballack a better player than carrick. i know which two i'm glad we had. * ignore the ashley cole bit, confused myself like a twat |

I cannot see Giggs starting, he hasn't played in a few games and to chuck him back in against Chelsea isn't a great idea.
If Berba is fit.. Van der Sar O'Shea Vidic Evans Evra Valencia Fletcher Anderson Nani Berbatov Rooney If not then.... Van der Sar
O'Shea Vidic Evans Evra Fletcher Carrick Anderson Valencia Rooney Nani |

i'd still rather have our medal haul.
i was trying to make the point that of the two squads over the last three years (comparing the same set of midfielders in particular) we had been pretty successful. carrick and anderson have won the league in each of their seasons and fletcher has only been a first team pick over the last couple of seasons. vidic has won the league in each of his full seasons and evans won it in his first last year. i made the point in another thread that i think people see names like deco and ballack and immediately rank them better than players like carrick and fletcher just because of who they are and not what they bring to the team. i'm not disputing chelsea should be favourites today just confused that a lot of united fans haven't learnt it's not reputation but performance that matters and hence we aren't as likely to be pulverised as some people are making out. also, on the medals front, that'd look very different if we took anderson out and put giggs in

Rooney will definitely be playing as the lone man upfront, which is very annoying, but lets lay down a marker today, come on united!

Didn't know where to post it. The french Channel Canal + that has the tv rights of the Premier League is broadcasting the game on its website. I don't know if that will be working abroad though.

One thing to look out for is Chelsea (Ballack in particular) diving for freekicks on the edge of the box. They seem to have decided they won't get the fakes called inside the box but will if it's not a pen.
