I see draw written all over this - we never win there.

Rooney back would make me feel better about this.

-------------De Gea-----------
Rafael-----Rio------Evans----Evra
Valencia---Carrick---Giggs---Nani
-------------Rooney------------
--------Welbeck-------------

Perhaps Hernandez up front but Welbeck's been in good form. Hopefully we'll have Rafael at RB and Valencia can terrorise their LB.

Them not having Cole will be a loss and could come into play, especially with Valencia in such good form.

Been 8 years since we won there in the league? No time like the present.

3-2

Any news on our injuries? Rooney? Nani? Jones? Anderson? Young?

No Cashly for them, not that Tony V wouldn't of torn him a new arse hole anyway

I'd usually give anything for a point from this game. Not anymore. We need to keep the pressure on City and with some more very hard games coming up i'd be disappointed if we didn't win this.

Fair enough, it's Smalling vs Evans but I'd go for Smalling myself, personal preference. Nothing against Jonny, he's been great for us the last few weeks.

Fergie has said he is hopeful Rooney, Nani and Young will all be back for this game.

I think we should just keep the same back four for this game.

Smalling is playing better and is a better defender. Rafael is going to make a rash challenge early on and get booked and then we ease up on challenges and we would have to sub him out.

Young is scheduled to return on the 11th against Liverpool. I would not want to rush him if Nani is back because we have Giggs and Park to cover for him.

I'd drop Rio and put Smalling and Evans in the centre . Evans is undroppable atm and Smalling oozes class at centre back.

Smalling is not a better right back than Rafael

Any win will do. We need to keep the pressure on City and take advantage of them missing some players because of the African Nations Cup..

Have to agree there, but Rio experience counts for so much...

Smalling at right back is not convincing at all tbh. Surely not better than Rafael in that position. We needed him for his height today. Not so against Chelski imo.

We need a win, and United usually thrive on the must win games at this time of year.

if DDG is out with a sickness I imagine he'll be fine for the Chelsea game. As you said if Amos features then Im not too worried either.

Rafael was fantastic vs the dippers and surely deserves to play against chelsea. He'll be up against Mata so his quickness and taste for a tackle should unsettle him.

de Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Giggs
Valencia Rooney Park
Welbeck
--
Amos; Smalling, Jones; Scholes, Nani/Young; Berbatov, Hernández

Probably the best case scenario. Valencia and Carrick hopefully keep up their amazing form, with Giggs coming back in too. Him and Carrick have done well against Chelsea in the past. Park will keep Bosingwa quiet and provide more legs in the middle when required. Rafael deserves to come back in - I think Smalling played purely because it was Stoke in the last game. Wouldn't be surprised if it's Evans that is dropped to the bench but I really don't mind who is left on the bench from our defenders. Hopefully Rooney is back, but if not we have both Berbatov and Hernández with a goal under their belts who will be eager to score again. Although, I'd rather Jones or Scholes just started in the middle with Giggs pushing on. Pogba will probably make the bench again if the likes of Young, Cleverley, Nani, Rooney, and Jones don't make it in the end.

Amos
Evans Smalling Rio Evra
Carrick Jones
Valencia Giggs Welbeck
Chicharito

Would be nice if Rooney and Nani, at least, were fit for this, they would definitely start.

I liked Evans running down the right, I'd like to see him start at RB. Smalling and Rio would be my first choice CB pairing without Vida.
