Play the strongest team and hopefully we will have Rio, Rooney and Carrick available.

Lindegaard - Rafael, Smalling, Evans/Ferdinand, Evra - Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Park - Rooney, Welbeck/Hernandez

Any word on Welbz? Or Jones yet?

Rafael is only Rightback; though I prefer Fabio. He plays with more thought and has better positioning.

Stoke aren't exactly known for giving the opposing keeper an easy game. I think De Gea will play and he'll be our cup keeper (FA and Europa).

As much as I like to see De Gea as our no1, I don't think it's right to play him before Lindegaard makes a mistake/performance indicating a need for a change. He will then be given a fair opportunity to recapture the no 1 spot, instead of feeling that he is playing at the mercy of SAF. A much better starting point imo.

Even if Rio is fit, I think he has to go with Evans and Smalling.... they were (largely) excellent against Arsenal, and I think they deserve a chance to build up some consistancy an understanding between each other.

Nailed on to be red-carded, or hauled off just before (or of course, injured).

Would feel a lot more comfortable with someone with a bit more of a cool head in what's going to be an absolute cauldron of hostility. Smalling RB for me. If other injuries allow it.

Game raising aside, Liverpool have City midweek in what is a tight tie - our week's rest could be the difference in a game like this.

I'm never confident going away to Liverpool under normal circumstances, but I am this time.

I think its alright doing that against the weaker sides at home in the league but not when you go away to one of the top sides (or in this case game raising cunts hehe). Yeah, i suspect he mightn't have played anyway. Hasn't been particularly good last couple of games, Stoke to play a few days after, and he'll still have nightmares of Carraghers tackle last season.

Ah ha, you see I always disagree with this train of thought. You may as well take Rafael out of your squad for 5 years if that's how you feel about him. And you could argue against Johnny Evans too and go round in circles. Play Rafael, he'll show you that he's maturing all the time.

Yep. He's picked up a shitload of bookings here and only been sent off twice i believe (Bayern and Spurs), and both times the ref was basically conned. The spurs one in particular was an absolute joke.

On sunday i think he was booked for his one and only foul but after that he stayed on his feet for Oxlade Chamberlain. Its not Rafael i'm worried about, its the reaction of the opposing fans and players (Adam, Gerrard etc) when they're tackled and a joke of a homer referee who will be only happy to oblige them with yellow/red cards.
