I was quietly confident before the Nou Camp, thinking we could nick an away goal and then finish the job at OT. Now Im bricking it.

---------------VDS-----------------

Wes-----Rio--------Vida--------Evra

---Hargreaves--Carrick--Scholes----

Ronaldo-------Tevez-------Rooney

Subs.PIG, O'Shea, Fletcher, Giggs, Anderson, Park, Nani

Anderson and Park to come on in 2nd half.

Just praying for a win

In general, I think Carrick is overrated on the caf, he dosent seem to hold his nerves together when the team's not playing well and fails to impose himself..a quality that Hargreaves seems to excel in. Basically, he lacks balls.

please go for a 4-4-2

fletch/hargreaves on the right is fine , gives us the option of going 4-5-1 in the game

but please no more 4- 5-1

I think 4-3-3 will be better v a team like Barcelona, remember United dont have an away so if Barca score we must win

we have to win regardless

0-0 will take it to ET and pens .. not what we want
we have to win at home against a side that arent that great defensively

take it to them ..

either way , get the game over with
we had barca on our minds against blackburn , we had barca on our minds against chelsea

finish them off and get back on track for the league

I am already of the mindset that we'll need to score at least twice to make it through, no great stretch to imagine it being three neither. We must allow for the unexpected.

It'll probably be more a question of our mentality and attitude on the night than which formation we adopt.

Though that being said, in a 4-3-3 both the ferocity and frequency of our attacks would depend noticeably so, on the makeup of that midfield trio.

Any idea who the ref is by the way? What is his character? Do we have any significant past with him e.t.c.

Finally, some good news!

Yaya Toure was taken off with an injured ankle in yesterday's 2-0 defeat against Deportivo.

The player who would usually fill in for him - Marquez - is suspended for the game on Tuesday.

This pleases me.

isnt toure a DM and marquez a defender ?

puyol for marquez

iniesta in the middle for toure and either henry/bojan/two saints to take the wing where iniesta was

doesnt matter .. bring it on
toure was immense .. good DM .. and heard he's playing despite needing an operation .. delayed it till the end of the season ..

him out is def a positive

He can do either. I think he's a great player actually. One of the best players in the Cop last summer. And that's saying something!

He was poor last week but his suspension looks to be badly timed for Barca. Oh well

Its hard to guess how we are gonna line up on tuesday because of the predicament we are in, if we over commit and they concede wed have to score 2, but if we dont put enough men forward we risk not scoring, which is a must, so....

I think we must keep these players on the team sheet, VDS, Evra, vidic, rio, brown, hargreaves,Scholes, ROONEY, ronaldo, tevez. We also have to play a 442, use width and get lots of movement in and behind their defence which will be looking more vulnerable with the loss of Marquez and toure.

I think we should go with;

--------------Van der sarr--------------
-------Brown - rio - vida - Evra-------
Ronaldo - Scholes - Hargreaves Nani
------------Rooney - Tevez------------

Give brown orders not to venture to far forward, as we will need to make up the extra man when they break, also hargreaves needs to be disciplined and always be there to break up their counter. We need to defend as a unit.

Fergie has apparently promised us that we'll see the real Rooney against Barca, in what may be his perfect position.

Team should be:

VDS
Brown
Rio
Vidic/Pique
Evra
Ronaldo
Scholes
Hargreaves
Nani
Rooney
Tevez

4-4-2 and just go on all out attack. If we feel the need to bring the likes of Anderson, Carrick or Giggs on, then we will.
I'm still confident we can do it

if we have to win then our midfield needs to dominate the whole match or large parts of the match and scholes, carrick and hargreaves are a must in the middle im still undecided on who should start giggs or nani maybe we could stick fletch instead of them and ronaldo on the right. defensively we should be fine if both vidic and rio are playing with brown and evra. rooney needs to play in his position otherwise he's useless.

Goosh I hate that big-mouth and diving twat Deco.

Deco expects fear factor

Barcelona play-maker Deco believes Manchester United will be running scared in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals at Old Trafford.

The Barcelona ace feels United are the side under pressure following last week's 0-0 first-leg draw at the Camp Nou.

Deco feels United's failure to score an away goal gives Barcelona the edge ahead Tuesday's return meeting.

"The fear is with them now," Deco said in the News of the World.

"They know if they concede at home they will have to score twice to win the semi-final. I'm optimistic."

Confident

And Deco is also confident that Lionel Messi will prove a threat as United are forced to attack.

"In the first leg Messi had a lot of players on top of him when he received the ball, but he still caused problems," Deco added.

"Now they have to attack us more and they will not be able to concentrate so much on covering Messi.

"When I saw that Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo were all starting on Wednesday, I thought they would pressure us high up the pitch.

"But they defended quite deep and can't do that at home."

I'd be very much in agreement with that, Carrick has been our best CM this season but he looked absolutely knackered on Saturday, where as Hargreaves has been playing well. 4 4 2 please SAF

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has kept faith with the majority of the squad that played in last week's Champions League semi-final first leg against Manchester United for Tuesday's return encounter.

Captain Carles Puyol returns after being suspended for the goalless draw at the Nou Camp and takes the place of Rafael Marquez, who in turn serves a ban of his own.

The only other change sees Brazilian utility man Edmilson, who was injured for the first meeting, drafted back in with young Mexican forward Giovani dos Santos the player to make way.

Ronaldinho and back-up goalkeeper Albert Jorquera remain sidelined through injury, while Oleguer and Santi Ezquerro have been omitted from an 18-man squad by Rijkaard.

Midfielder Yaya Toure was unable to take part in squad training on Sunday morning after picking up an ankle knock during Saturday's 2-0 league defeat at Deportivo La Coruna, but he has also been included in the travelling party for England.

Barcelona squad: Valdes, Pinto; Zambrotta, Thuram, Puyol, Milito, Abidal, Sylvinho; Edmilson, Toure, Deco, Iniesta, Xavi; Gudjohnsen, Bojan, Eto'o, Henry, Messi.

We're looking as though we will crumble. SAF has a big motivational job on his hands. Additionally he is going to have to really get the tactics spot on now and for the next few games.
