Fuckin ell - 3 days to go & I'm a wreck!
I've been trying to pick the team, but apart from VDS, the back four, Roon & Ron I'm struggling for so many reasons. Anyway I feel compelled to pick the winners so here goes: ----------VDS---------- Wes---Rio---Vida---Paddy ---Carrick---Scholes--- Park---Andyson---Ron ---------Roon------- Subs: PIG, Owen, Fletch, Giggsy, Nani, Teveth, Saha Barring injuries, subs on the hour Owen for Scholesy, Teveth for Andyson, 10 mins later Giggsy for Park. I reckon we'll do em, coming from behind with 2 late goals...I just hope we don't leave it as late as 99 in Barca!! |

Not as nervous as for the PL. I'd say more anticipation.....this is a funny week....everything ending.....we're gonna be without United for some months after this week and that's what's ailing me right now.
I feel we're going to make history on Wednesday and I'm like a little boy waiting for Christmas. |

Vidic accuses Drogba
United star hopes for strong officials Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has accused Didier Drogba of being a diver ahead of their UEFA Champions League final clash. Vidic will lock horns with Drogba in Wednesday's showpiece in Moscow and the United ace hopes the officials will be aware of the striker's theatrics. The giant Serbian Vidic believes Drogba exaggerates fouls to make defenders think twice before challenging him in the penalty area. Pretends "Sometimes he [Drogba] goes in very strong and sometimes he pretends he is weak. He plays with your mind and tries to make the defender think about the next tackle," Vidic told The Sunday Times. "He can pretend he fell down to win a penalty, but referees know that. The Champions League final is a big game and I'm sure the ref will know his job. "He's a great player and he's a top scorer. It's a hard job to stop him." Vidic has already suffered at the hands of Drogba this season after being stretchered off with concussion during United's defeat at Stamford Bridge when Drogba accidentally kneed him in the head. No blame Vidic says he bears no grudges against Drogba following the clash which left him injured. "He went for the ball and I don't think he wanted to kick me. It's in the past and I don't think about what happened in the past," added Vidic. "I don't know if he said sorry. I remember nothing from those first five seconds after it happened, but he didn't need to apologise. When a player doesn't mean to kick me yet it happens, I understand that." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...580422,00.html |

Slovakian referee in charge in Moscow
Slovakian referee in charge in Moscow
UEFA have confirmed that Slovakian referee Lubos Michel will take charge of the Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea. Michel, who turned 40 last week, was the referee who awarded a highly-controversial goal to Liverpool against Chelsea in the semi-finals of the competition in 2005. Then Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho always insisted the shot from Luis Garcia had never crossed the line. Michel is one of the top referees in the world, however, and is highly experienced having officiated at both Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup, including the tense Germany v Argentina game in the first knock-out round. He also refereed the 2003 UEFA Cup final where Mourinho's Porto triumphed over Celtic. Language barriers should not be a problem either as Michel speaks English, Russian, German and Polish as well as his native tongue. At Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on Wednesday, Michel will be backed by the assistant referees who have accompanied him at his major tournaments: Roman Slysko (34) and Martin Balko (36). The fourth official will be Vladimir Hrinak (44), also of Slovakia. http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2008/...onsleague.html |
