--------De Gea------
Jones--Evans--Smalling--Buttner
Nani---Scholes---Ando---Giggs
---------Rooney----------
-------------Hernandez-----

Rest Rafael, Rio, Carrick, Evra and RVP. Hopefully Evans is back, if not then bring in one of the reserves, I'd like Rafael to be rested ahead of the Spurs game.

Hopefully Nani, Rooney and Anderson start this game. Im looking forward to it, not much pressure on a result for me and it will be nice to see some players return.

Should be more then enough to win comfortably, and give game time to the returnee's, maybe in time for Spurs on sunday.

A chance to give a lot of returning players a game against a relatively good side and still put out a very strong lineup that should win.

This XI but Smalling CB and Jones RB, quite obviously.
If Evans isn't fit then Smalling and Jones CB and put Valencia in at RB.

I deliberately lined them up like that due to Smalling playing at RB and Jones in the centre with Evans for the first handful of games last season. We also need to get back to Jones playing as a centre back instead of at RB and or midfield

We should have more than enough to beat these at OT, even with a few changes.

In a way in the Liverpool match and this one we'll have seen two halves of our first choice attacking resources. RVP, Kagawa and Young/Valencia against 'pool, and then hopefully Rooney, Nani, Anderson and possibly Hernandez against West Ham.

If all goes to plan, we'll be able to put them together to make something like this for the Spurs match:

Carrick Cleverley
Nani Rooney Kagawa
RVP

...with Anderson as an alternative to Kagawa (to have a fairly free midfield role), Young or Valencia as options in either wide position, and Hernandez available if more firepower is needed.

We've had many games since with Smalling CB and Jones RB.

Smalling has impressed at CB and looked out of place at RB.

Jones has had his best performances at RB, and hasn't had the best of times at CB as of yet.

People do seem to forget Jones form as a CB in those first few games of last season

And you're completely ignoring his form at RB, Smalling's form at CB, and Smalling's form at RB.

Jones has potential at CB and it could prove to be his best position, but at the moment if both are on the pitch and one has to play RB and one has to play CB, we all know which way around they will be. And rightly so.

Nani to come on, didn't make the bench today so is probably still a bit short. I'd like to see someone else get a go in goal too but its not really worth a needless risk. Should be enough fire power there to win it for us. I'd try and give Kagawa some time too maybe put him on the left again.

Scholesy and Giggs will be involved, as they shouldn't be away to Tottenham.

Fergie will get it right, a good lineup, but keeping key players fresh for the weekend.

VP, Cleverley, Vidic, Ferdinand and Rafael probably seem most likely to be rested.

We'll see who's fit. Evans is reported to be nicked up and now possibly Vidic. So I suppose that leaves Rio and Smalling...or maybe Jones and Smalling.

Throw the book at Big Sam and say goodbye.

To be honest, my mind is already on White Hart Lane. I'm just hoping to get through this one unscathed as I think we'll really struggle to beat Spurs.

I'm not ignoring anything both Smalling and Jones are mainly pants at RB, Jones slightly less so admittedly but like I said it's been so long since he played CB he needs to be given games there

Depending on whether Rooney or Nani are ready to return to the team. Personally I'd play Fletcher over Scholes as I think there's more balance to that partnership with Anderson but I'd expect to see Scholes get a start. Considering the number of players from Sunday rested, shows how strong the squad is with almost all the injuries over. Good chance to get game time for those that need it and get through to the next round.

Turns out this game isn't necessarily a headache as it provides the opportunity for some players to gain some match fitness and cause some selection headaches for Sir Alex.

Either way, the result and progress is all I'm interested in whilst certain players try to stake a claim for a return to the starting XI in the league. Everyone is pinning their hopes on Nani to save the wing play...I really hope there isn't a huge backlash.

Next weekend is going to be a bit scary to be honest. City play Fulham at home on the Saturday and could very well be only 4 points behind by the time we play Spurs away on the Sunday. I really hope that we don't pick up any major injuries in this one. Spurs away will be one tough game.

Amusing Rooney and Nani are back available from the start, but that Young and Vidic are out after the Liverpool game, whilst Evans won't be risked, then:

De Gea
Rafael---Smalling---Jones---Buttner
Valencia---Fletcher---Anderson---Nani
Rooney
Hernandez

Bench: Lindegaard, Carrick, Evra, Scholes, Cleverley, Welbeck, RVP

Avoid using Carrick, Evra and RVP if possible, but we want to progress so better safe than out. I'd like to rest Rafael as well ahead of Bale/Lennon at the weekend, but I don't think we can avoid it - if only we had two of him

Otherwise we should have enough there to beat West Ham, and give Rooney, Nani, and Anderson at least an hour, as well as reunite the Smalling-Jones partnership that did well at the U21s a couple of seasons ago.

We could always see Valencia or even Fletcher at RB, if we want to rest Rafael and Evans or Vidic aren't available.

I like a lot of the teams being suggested, but I don't want to see a ton of changes. I want to get a 2 goal lead first, then we can bring on players needing a game.

Lindegaard
Rafael Smalling Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Valencia Welbeck Giggs
Persie

One of Scholes or Giggs.

Both Nani and Anderson would be nice but we'll have to see.

Keep De Gea in goal but change the defence: Valencia-Smalling-Jones-Evra

This game actually isn't all that bad since it coincides with most of our injured players coming back. A great chance to give Rooney, Jones, Anderson and Nani a run out and get them ready for Spurs.

You'd start RVP for this ? I think the team is more than enough to beat West Ham without him starting, he should be on the bench and only play if there is a real need (scoreline or injury)

I'd put in a mix of players who are out of form, with those that came back from injury to give them a chance to improve their form and get some match practice.

---------------De Gea----------------
Valencia----Smalling----Evans----Buttner
-----------Jones---Anderson--------
---------------Rooney----------------
Nani---------Hernandez------Kagawa---

This should be a good enough team to do the job while giving the likes of Carrick, Rio and Vidic a rest.

i see big changes for this one

I want to see Nani, Anderson,Jones,Rooney,Smalling,Buttner,Welbeck all get games to sharpen up.

Either way we are at home and should have enough to beat West 'AM

He's played two games in a week before, and I really don't want to see us take too many chances with the line-up. If Rooney isn't going to be able to start then I would definitely want Persie in there. If it turns out to be overkill we can take him off as soon as we have a bit of a cushion.

I'd like to see us take the FA Cup as seriously as possible.
