bobbobray - hits women. Big man

10 days before Moscow so there really is no excuse for mindless rotation. Best team available. I think Wayne will play some part, most likely from the bench.
VDS Brown-Rio-Vidic-Evra Ronaldo-Carrick-Scholes-Anderson-Giggs Tevez Wigan are a good side under Bruce. He has got a simple formula: strong at the back (Kirkland has been sensational; Bramble has been dropped), compact in midfield (with flair coming from Valencia) and strikers that although not prolific, are an absolute handful. Hopefully they will be on autopilot. What is the JJB pitch like, by the way? |

Hey guys, first post in the main forum. Just got promoted so I'm looking forward to talking about our team with the rest of you
![]() Anyway, Chelsea's result at Newcastle will probably influence Sir Alex's line-up for the Wigan game at the JJB. If Chelsea lose, Sir Alex may decide to rest players ahead of the Champions League Final, although the players will have a long rest before then (roughly ten days). If Chelsea win, nothing but the strongest line-up will do, probably the same if they draw, though he may keep a few of the "big guns" on the bench since we'll only need a draw if that's what Chelsea get. The only safe option though, is to try and win the game so we're definately champions. I can see Sir Alex picking the same team that beat Barcelona and West Ham, though Nani obviously woudn't be there. -------------------- Van Der Sar --------------- Hargreaves ---- Ferdinand ---- Brown ------ Evra ------------ Carrick ------------ Scholes ------- Park -------------------------------------- Giggs -------------- Ronaldo -------- Tévez ----------- Subs: Kuszczak, O'Shea, Fletcher, Anderson & Welbeck. If we can get off to a good start, Ronaldo getting his two goals and us being comfortable, I'd take him off for Fletcher to make a five man midfield. I'd then take off Scholes for Anderson and maybe Tévez to give Welbeck a chance. |

Hello Havak. Match with West Ham proves that United must attack to get a safe result, so I think even when Newcastle get draw against Chelsea, Sir Alex will play 4-4-2. |

Yeh, I was contemplating Vidic and Rooney (who wouldn't?), but if they're not 100% I probably wouldn't risk it. Brown has been great at centre back IMO, if a little lucky, and Hargreaves has been fine at right back. If Rooney seemed okay enough I'd probably keep him on the bench and get half an hour out of him (Instead of Welbeck). I guess the usual back four would still be the best option no matter how well the current one is doing though... No place for Hargreaves then. The sooner we get the chance to name seven subs in a Premier League game the better, that is happening next season isn't it?

United must attack from a start and show who's ruling the league.
Help from returning Rooney and Vidic will be great, but even without them, United can play deadly football. I just hope the game won't be that nervous. |

I have to disagree there. True, we can still only use three. But it gives the manager more options on the bench if he wants to change tactics a certain way, he does have more options in a sense, even if he can only use three.
It might also make players feel as if they're more a part of the team, I feel it's problematic when you have too many top quality players. As you have to leave some of them out quite often, they may start to feel unwanted and it's hard to keep a consistancey. Just a quick example, our first team would probably be something like this: Van Der Sar Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra Ronaldo, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs Tévez, Rooney This means leaving out: Brown O'Shea Silvestre Fletcher Hargreaves Anderson Park Nani Saha We've got to give one place on the bench to a keeper, so we have to leave at least three (five if it were only five subs) if of our better players out completely if we've got our full squad. This isn't even taking into account any players we sign next season. But I just feel it offers more to the team and keeps players hopes up of playing games more often. I think it can make a world of difference. |

Hit them hard, hit them fast! No mercy on Wigan. We must play our strongest team and go out there with urgency for the win. This is the pinnacle of our Premier League season.
