In hindsight, you are probably right. There seems to be more of a hostile atmosphere at sporting events in general here in the Northeast. I see more drunken idiots fighting at Redskins and Caps games that I ever did in the past.

have to say that as I'm still in Omaha. I do hope the game is a good one. that was a nice welcome that the PSU players got coming off the buses this morning. |

Emotional opening to the game. Went a bit OD with the prayer in the middle of the game, but understandable.
And maybe I'm late, but did anyone watch the LSU - Bama matchup last week? Talk about defense! Most of the defensive players that featured that day will end up in the NFL, no doubt about that. It was like the AC Milan - Juventus Champions League final at Old Trafford

nasty stuff by the accounts I've read. I've not read the indictment documents that supposedly are 25 pages detailing the graphic nature of that fuckers actions.
PSU comes out looking really bad in all of this, ala the Catholic church when they covered up their sick priests. |

Considering LSU aren't that good offensively, I wouldn't necessarily say a 17-10 game is a "pulverizing." However, LSU would more than likely have forced a few turnovers against a vastly overrated OkSt side and have had plenty of shortened field situations, probably turning what would be a rather good contest into a lopsided one. Perhaps this could be viewed as a "pulverizing." Granted we'll never know since they won't be meeting. I hope we don't see an Alabama/LSU rematch. If college fans want to keep on with this regular season is a playoff tripe, Alabama shouldn't get another shot for two reasons: 1) they lost at home, and 2) they will not be a conference champion (let alone division champion). I recall people moaning when Nebraska was in the national title game despite not winning their conference. And many of them were whiny SEC fans. |

Well it's pretty much official, it's going to be an LSU - Alabama rematch. Arkansas are the only team that can stop that now, well, Auburn can too but there's no chance in a million years of that.

Not looking forward to possibly the last Texas/Texas A&M game in a while. Bitter Aggies. Best in-state rivalry in college football IMO.

Now that I recall, both Nebraska and Oklahoma played in recent national title games despite not winning their conference. And plenty of fans were pissed, especially these whiny ass SEC fans. But that's moot today when talking to them. I'm really sick of SEC this, SEC that.

For once they have got it 100% correct and the best two teams will play one another, and its a coin flip who will win. Plus the SEC is guaranteed the crown yet again. |

Really enjoyed some of the bowl games this season. Mondays game should be an epic defensive battle. Some of the bowl teams seem to be devoid of quality of defense but they're fun to watch.

How about a little credit for arguably the best college defense in history. Bama are the number one team for practically every meaningful defensive statistic. They have shut the number one team down, held them out of their half for 3.5 quarters and not even given up a penalty. Absolutely faultless performance by Bam's D, perfection.

They were able to shut it down because of passive, bad play calls. They threw screen passes consistently and ran an option that would embarrass most high school teams. Jefferson wasn't up to the big stage and made lots of bad decisions. No matter how good a defense is, it has weaknesses and can be worked. When Jefferson missed Beckham to the right, he had a TE wide open and it wasn't the only case of him missing open receivers.
The defense has to respond to the playcalls, and the offensive coordinator made a bunch of shitty playcalls. When screen passes and the option don't work, don't keep using them. If they'd gone vertical instead of horizontal, they'd have had a chance. Jefferson managed to screw up every option he ran. Don't toss it when the option is 5 yards behind you and you haven't drawn your man. They also refused to put in Lee to keep with a QB who clearly wasn't showing up. More drives ended because of the terrible playcalls and decisions than defense. Jefferson fumbled twice, bobbled numerous snaps, shoveled it to a defender, failed the option, threw at the ankles of his receivers. None of that is a result of the defense. LSU made no attempts to attack and took what the Bama defense gave them. It was a gutless performance all around by LSU. |

He was never given a chance. He had a poor game the first time, but he was replaced by Jefferson because he was making winning plays. They just stuck with Jefferson despite the fact that he was making losing play after losing play. At least give the other guy a chance. They had nothing to lose.

Nah, McCarron got offensive MVP. Was just wondering if he'd get it. He's been shit enough when I've seen him before but showed up tonight in fairness (barring the missed PAT).

I don't much care for either school, still have my doubts on the validity of having a school that didn't win its division let alone its conference playing for a (mythical) national championship, but found this shirt hilarious. LSU fans are crying about Alabama being in the game today yet I didn't hear them complain when they played for the national title in 2007 with TWO LOSSES and AT HOME. Funny that. Based on what I saw from LSU last night, OkState would have whipped them. Alabama should have beat them the first time anyhow.
