England comfortably beat the Aussies in the first ODI.
Eoin Morgan is some cricketer, another great innings from him today. The thing that impresses me the most about him is he paces his innings, and plays proper cricket shots, not just aimlessly slogging (as Afridi often does). He's going to be the player to watch in next years WC if he keeps playing the way he has the past 12-18 months. |

forgot that the 1st one day was today!!! in fact with such a footy fest on, it feels v strange to have cricket on right now .... sadly will have to take a back seat til the WC is over as there is just not enough hours in the day to fit in both!

Aimless slogging only works on very rare occasions and does not get you the record and reputation Afridi has at international level. |

Although in saying that a few weeks ago i was bowling at him down at Old deer Park where Middlesex play a few practice matches, and hold a few 20/20's and he took 18 off my over .Three 4's and a 6 into the A road. I know Bresnan played a decent knock yesterday, but why he's anywhere near the England squad bemuses me. Get Sajid back in! |

Bresnan seems to be a decent one day player, can keep the runs down when bowling and can bat a bit which is useful as always. Should be nowhere near the test team mind as he still lacks the cutting edge to take wickets

England should win comfortably, 68 needed from 17 overs and 7 wickets in hand.
Been really impressed with England the past 12 months in the shorter form of the game. Morgan has been immense, but likes of Wright/Broad/Swann have improved themselves. Credit to Flower for picking One-Day players to play ODIs and 20-20 specialists to play (and win) the T20 WC. |

After a slight wobble in the innings, England are back on track and look like winning fairly easily. |

Jesus christ we nearly blew that! i thought those days of collapses were over but we almost went back to the bad old days there.
I think that match was a must win to myself, Ozzie attack looks to be getting better and Tait is unplayable at that pace at times i wouldnt have fancied us to win the series had we lost that today. |

They could have had more, they had a very good platform with Ponting and Clarke at the crease, but they didn't really take advantage
But in the end, they're probably happy with 290, as it could have been a lot less if you know what I mean, Smith's 18 from 8 balls was important I'd make Aus favourites, as 290 is still a big total to chase even in the modern game |

Pakistan are out of this match, I'll be suprised if they could take it into the fifth day the way they bat.
Pak-India would be a great series, but unfortunately I can't see it happening due to the stupid politics of the region. Would love to see a Pak-India series in England... |

![]() Pakistani bowling attack would probably destroy our batters on these English Pitches. Mohammed Aamer is a frightening prospect and looks like Asif is back in his pre-drugs form aswell. |

Terrorism...ICC are afraid, pakistan have not played at home in ages, and won't be in the foreseeable future.
They had their 2011 WC matches taken away already.. They needed a neutral venue, but one that gave them a feel of home...so why not England? |

North and Watson to take the wickets, who'd have thought it? Maybe Ricky Ponting should consider bowling himself in the next test, never know he might get a five wicket haul.
Afridi seems to be retiring after the next test, not that he offers much in Test cricket. |

This is probably me being a moron, but I'm sure SSN said earlier that the Pakistan v Australia match was taking place at Lords, despite the fact that it also said Pakistan were hosting Australia. I thought Lords was in England? Or is there another one in Pakistan?

Ponting has a history of shit toss decisions, remember Edgbaston 05?
Its a shame Pakistans batting line up is so green meaning all the hard work done by the bowlers will probably mean little come the end of their first innings....hopefully the sun will come out and make conditions easier though. And its always funny to watch Australias batting line up get decimated, in truth it happens quite regularly these days. |
