True...i would have ripped his helmet off and smacked him one for that.....utterly stupid mistake.

Now there is an investigation over it which doesnt look good for lewis and rightly so....he was heading for kubica and steered into and took out his closest title challenger

This was a sure win for Lewis, so if anyone stood to lose anything it was him. Kimi drives for Ferrari, so I am having trouble feeling sorry for him.

Sure win? he was jumped by both Raikkonen and Kubica in the pits(hence why both cars were in front of Lewis) so would have been in third after that.

What a bunch of idiots. Hamilton completely fucked up there, funny but by now he shouldn't be doing stuff like that.

What gets me even more is the second Ferrari and McLaren should be up near the top, not making up midfield places near the end of the race.

Have to say - well done to BMW - played it all well and with their heads - they deserve it for their efforts and hopefully they can build on this.

Its all good though, nice to have a different race and throws a few points down the pack.

This is an interesting slant which I never thought about. It will be interesting what the investigation comes out with.

If he does get in trouble its not just him I don't think. The other driver behind him ran into Hamilton as well (same problem). And firstly I'm not sure Ferrari should have released Raikkonen at the same time as the other car - it was a little close.

I reckon Hamilton will be punished or the team. He should have known really and his actions have put others out of a race.

Nothing to do with that....you release the drivers as quickly as possible doesn't matter either way once neither break the pit lane speed limit.

Stupid mistake by Hamilton and Rosberg and both should be punished for it because they both ignored the red light.

Rules are rules i'd be very surprised and shocked if both get away with it

Lol thats a stupid argument.

Monaco last week was in rain and at racing conditions....i could probably tell you about 10 other racing incidents of the same calibur.

Both Lewis and rosberg ignored red lights.....yes ok they are mistakes but they also break the rules

No it would be a separate incident to the Hamilton thing. And no the lollipop man has to release the driver safely - they were side by side in the end. Ferrari can do that because there is no pit crew in front of them. Teams have been punished for releasing drivers early before - I wouldn't put it past them.

Fair points. Anyways, it's good for the serie that Kimi doesn't finish a few races - it is good for the competetion. I was afraid at the start of the season that he would be running away with the title. Despite these setbacks he will probably still win it as he has the best car and is the fastest driver - now it however seems like it will be a tight race for the title.

True....i forgot about that.

but many a time before have cars been released side by side leaving the pitlane.

I havn't seen one incident punished for it unless it led to an accident, have you?

(i can't remember an incident like that anyways)

Terrible mistake by Hamilton, but these things happen.....he's unlikely to do it again. A few races ago, he ran into the back of Alonso - and escaped punishment, mostly because Alonso was able to carry on....but this is a step too far. Grid penalty?

I reckon so....if not he is basically getting away with breaking the rules along with Rosberg.

They neglected to see the red light which is they're job to look out for.

Drivers have been black flagged for breaking red light rules before.

I can't see why Hamilton is any different

Lewis Hamilton has described his pit-lane collision with Kimi Raikkonen in the Canadian Grand Prix as "unfortunate".

Hamilton was leading the race by six seconds when the safety car was deployed after Adrian Sutil retired his Force India car trackside.

The Briton and main championship rival Raikkonen were among a number of drivers who took the option to pit, with the Finn and eventual race winner Robert Kubica getting the drop on Hamilton.

But, as Raikkonen stopped for the red light at the end of the pit lane, Hamilton's McLaren careered into the back of the World Champion's Ferrari, forcing them both out of the race.

As the drivers got out of their cars, Raikkonen theatrically pointed at the pit signals to indicate they had been on red.

It was a disaster for the leading two drivers in this year's Championship but Hamilton was philosophical.

"I saw the two guys in front of me battling in the pit lane and I was trying to make sure I didn't get involved but then they stopped," a sheepish Hamilton told ITV1.

"I saw the red light but it was too late. It's not a racing incident but I think it is unfortunate.

"It is a lot different if you crash into the wall and you are angry with yourself.

"I apologise to Kimi if I ruined his race. I would rather neither of us be out. I was so quick I was breezing it."

With Kubica now holding a four-point lead in the Drivers' Championship, Hamilton has dropped to joint second alongside Ferrari's Felipe Massa, who finished fifth in Montreal.

Raikkonen has dropped to fourth place, three points behind Hamilton and Massa.

That's seems to be a catch-all type of penalty.

He has to expect some kind of punishment.....the apology was lame as well.

I can't stand that twat James Allen... from his column on this weekends race...

This is interesting in light of Raikkonen’s collision with Adrian Sutil in Monaco, which cost the German five points, but did not attract a 10-place grid drop for Kimi here in Canada… Figure that one out.
If he can't see the difference between the 2 incidents he needs shooting for fucks sake.

Kimi crashed in race conditions, in bad weather, on a slippery track while flying about however fast he was.

Hamilton managed to wipe Raikkonen out IN THE PIT LANE, WITH A RED LIGHT, AND AT A STAND STILL.

Fucking James Allen :@ Most annoying cunt ever.

Kubica deserves to lead the championship. Only "top"-driver that didn't make a dumb error this year.

Agreed...what a retard he is.

Kimi's reaction -

"There's not much I can say. My race was ruined by Hamilton's mistake. Obviously, anyone can make mistakes, as I did two weeks ago in Monaco, but it's one thing to make a mistake at two hundred (miles) per hour but another to hit a car stopped at a red light. I am not angry because that doesn't achieve anything and does not change my result! I am unhappy, because I had a great chance of winning. Once the graining had gone from the tyres, the car was going very well. I have failed to score in these last two races and now it's time to start winning again. There is still a long way to go in the championship and it is still very close and we have everything we need to regain the ground we have lost."

James Allen is about as bias as you get.

On top of that he doesn't know fuck all either. Martin Brundle is always correcting him on stuff. Best just to ignore him.
