This is a right mess in my opinion, personal relations disaster. If he was unsure if he wanted to play why do the whole heart felt press conference. Also where exactly is he going to go did Green Bay not get to the championship game last season, I also remember it being his poor play that cost them the chance of advancing after a great season. Also the Colts, Patriots, Cowboys and the teams that are guaranteed to go deep into the season like Green Bay did are all set at the position.
The only viable contender I can see as an option is the Vikings. Tavaris Jackson is their only weak link so it would be a good move if they think now is the time for a run. |

It is a mess.
The Packers are better with Favre than Rodgers. However Favre has been waiting in the wings for 4 years and has been promised to start. Favre in any other jersey would be a Page Ranking nightmare, even worse if he wound up in a Bears or Vikings jersey. Hopefully he goes back to the Pack or retires. |

Well said, his yoyo act is a bunch of crap. He called them in March to say he wanted to come back, and they agreed, and where gonna send him a charter to bring him up to GB. Then all of a sudden two days later he says he doesnt want to come back. There have been few better quarterbacks out there and the man is a living legend, but I have to think leaving Green Bay will tarnish his image forever. Green Bay is one of the most storied franchises in the NFL for him to go to Vikings would be like seeing Elway go to the Raiders, or Marino go to the Patriots

This is ridiculous.
Favre made a mistake, it is obvious he has been conflicted for the last few years. He finally made that decision to retire and it turns out he discovered it was the wrong one. I 100% support him coming back, you only live once and football is something he loves. If he feels he has something in the tank and has the desire to continue playing it would stick with him for the rest of his life that he walked away when he had a few good years left in him. The douchebaggery going on is by the Packers front office. Favre is a better QB than Rodgers. Favre was one pass from going to the SB last season. GB has a good team. The Fans want him back. He wants back. GB have taken some sort of bizarre stand here and are fighting against logic, reason and fan will. What they are doing doesn't make sense. Liken this to Giggs retiring while he still had it, then deciding 3 months later that he made a bad decision and wanted to come back. Fergie who tried to talk him out of it is now refusing to allow Giggs to come back as anything but a rbackup because he wants Eagles to have his time. That is what we are talking about, Rodges = Eagles, Favre = a GOAT. |

Not really Nucks. It would be like Giggs doing the same thing to Fergie continually over three off seasons when his play in the first two of those was not great in the first place. The rumour is that he was definitely retiring with a press conference, then got back in touch with them to say he wanted to play, then changed his mind again after talking with his wife. The Packers were supposedly responsive to him coming back then decided to move on after he changed his mind back.
They have drafted Brohm and Rodgers has got all the pre season work on the understanding he was going to start. Favre is a legend but is in the wrong here. Its a hard decision for the Packers especially with their fans. |

Yea, the comparison is fair. Rodgers is unproven and unknown. |

Looks like the New York Jets are favorites to get him, GB will also almost assuredly be getting Minnesota's 1st round pick next year and possibly their second for the tampering which has been proven via phone records

San Francisco only lost a fifth rounder and a swap of their third round pick with Chicago's for tampering with Lance Briggs. From what I remember. |

Madness to give up a first round pick for a guy who's bound to fall apart in the matter of weeks. Last season was just one of those seasons where things go a club's way in just about every week. Soon enough Favre will revert to those 05-06 performances where he's throwing more INTs than TDs.
First round pick for a guy that will turn 39 in October. ![]() At best I'd offer a 3rd rd pick and perhaps make it conditional 2nd if my club make the playoffs and Favre took 65% of the offensive snaps. If my club made the Super Bowl and he took 80% of the snaps, I'd make it a first rounder. But it's got to be conditional for me to take it. Otherwise I'd tell the Packers front office to go fuck themselves. Quote:
I don't see how it can be considered tampering when Favre had retired from the game. I can only guess it's because he was still technically under contract to Green Bay. |

You are right, but I still reckon that they get at least a first or second round pick, as good as Briggs is, Favre is an all-time great and bigger profile, also as the Vikings are in teh same division Green Bay will be out for blood

Redskins do not have the cap room. Casserly said such on the Mike & Mike show last week. He said the Skins have so little cap room that they have to hope they suffer very few injuries during the season because signing players off the street still costs xx thousand per week. All charged towards the cap. It's all because they absorbed Jason Taylor's $9m salary this year.

Cant see him going to the Redskins along with the cap stuff already mentioned they seem to really like Campbell and he has been good so far in camp after learning yet another offense. I think there is a chance Favre just sits back for a while and causes a media storm in camp etc. I doubt they go into the season with him as a back up paying him all that money, they would end up just releasing him in my opinion.

A 10 year, 20 million dollar contract to stay away from work... I would take it!
I dont think Favre will though as he wants to play and has enough money, we will see. |
