Gaa 2012

With Dublin finally getting the Monkey of their backs can they get back to back All-Irelands?

Can Kerry reclaim what is 'Rightfully Theirs'?

Can Cork Get back to looking like the powerhouses they were two seasons ago?

Can anyone else even contemplate winning an All-Ireland this year. Tyrone, Kildare, Donegal? Maybe an outside bet on one of those three could yeild good rewards.

How will Canavan fare in his first foray into inter-county management?

These are the burning questions, so let the abuse and fun begin!!!

Oh, and UP TYRONE!

Monaghan for Sam! ...... alas, probably won't be the Maguire version!

Good to have the Gaa back, even though it's the lesser provincial competitions!

Peter canavan in the away dressing room at Omagh tonight. Should be an interesting experience for him. I'm sure there will be a decent crowd to 'welcome' Peter the Great back home and I can see plenty of banter from the fans.

Tyrone to whip ass though!!

As planned. A good night in Healy park with O'Neill looking top drawer by all accounts. If Tyrone can keep him fit this year and continue to bring in the talented young lads we will be hard stopped in Ulster again.

You think Tyrone will get to the final this year?

I think we'd be doing great to get to the semi with all the transition this year.

Not a bad shout STG. Should be a good ould season this year. The media will take a bigger interest as the Dubs are champs and as a result attendances etc should go up.

A great Monaghan & Ballybay legend, Kieran "Jap" Finlay (father of current player Paul), passed away earlier today.

Kieran won 2 Ulster SFC medals in '79 & '85. He also won a Nat. Lge. medal in '85.
He held the individual scoring record for an Ulster final (1-9 v Donegal in '79) until it was beaten a few years ago by Oisin McConville.

Just like his son Paul, he was 2 footed, with a marvellous "sweet" left foot.

Sincere condolences to his family & friends.

May he rest in peace.

Went to my first GAA match today.

London vs. Fermanagh!

My friend is a journalist and was covering it for the Irish News.

Quite an entertaining sport to watch. Lots of action and rarely any stoppages. Fermanagh won.

Hard to judge, was a good performance, not sure if it will transpire into the Championship, if they get a good route they could do well enough.

Back? You were never here before. Apart from a favourable ref in 2004 and Fitzy blasting a ball wide from 14 yards that allowed youse to shimmy to lucky Leinster...that's it.

Dont mention the U21s. Got shit in work today from a cunt of a Tipp man...."Did you know Messi scored more than Laois last night?"

By the way, Baz, your jokes thread is fucking priceless. I know they're copied from elsewhere, but some of them are brilliant....the 8 out of 9 people enjoy gangrape is a classic.

Tyrone get another win today to keep up their 100% start to the year. Great stuff from the young lads. Maybe Coney will start to make the step up we've al been waiting for.

“At the end of the day, I am so confident in my own identity and belief that I should be able to respect others, even though I strongly disagree with them, so long as those beliefs are peaceful and are peacefully held.” So said the DUP Mayor of Ballymoney as he prepares to go to Croke Pk on Sat to support Loughgiel Shamrocks. Proper political leadership, well done.
Stolen from my cousins FB page.

Fair play to yer man, nice to see some people trying to move things along in a practical way!

This just gets me every time. I'm not an Offaly man but my da was involved with the team around that time. Its the first final I remember with any great clarity. I love the pause that Micheal and the crowd leave before the eruption. Reminds me of the McCarthy goal v Cork a few years back.

I'm sure I've posted this before but the phrase 'high, lobbing, dropping' ball became the catchword for every ugly ball lamped up the field for years to come!

Anyway....

Here is the Rory McCathy goal. I love the pause in the commentary. The disbelief because Wexford completed an unreal comeback.

Kilkenny won the Hurling league title in some style today, hammering Cork 3-21 to 0-16. Cork got a reality check & so did anyone that was starting to think Kilkenny might be there for the taking in this years championship.
