Agreed unless maybe Scu tries to set decent pace and make all but that's doubtful, 2/1 about CC has been quickly snapped up.

Disappointing unseat on Cue Card yesterday. That horse needs a better jockey.

Couple of bets today. Mon Parrain is worth one in the big race at 2.35. He's a horse of considerable promise who jumped the National fences in April as economically as I can remember any horse ever doing. That economy in jumping is a crucial attribute a horse needs at Cheltenham and whilst he's not a great price I think he could demolish this field today - especially with quite a few of them running outside of the handicap proper.

In the 1.55 Nick Williams runs Reve De Sivola. This horse has generally been a disappointment since being a chaser but he was placed in a hot race at the Festival and runs off a similar mark today. 10/1 is very fair.

Not sure where to post this, but Boyle Sports are doing a decent promotion this w/e.

Open a new account and put a 30 euro bet on something thats 2/1 or greater and you get the brand new Ireland jersey and another 20 euro free bet.

Now to find a 2/1 shot.......!

Kauto Star with a great performance today. Pleasure to watch.

Masterminded did well too. Boxing day racing will be interesting.

Be interesting to see will they both turn up for the King George, I'd prefer to see Kauto put away till March myself. Long Runs jumping fell to pieces on the 2nd circuit but I was really impressed with how well he battled, he'll come on a tonne for that and is definitely still the one to beat on Boxing day.

I hope they both turn up but Somersby was gaining on Master Minded towards the end and I don't see the latter staying 3 miles. Kauto was hard trained for this race and today was his day. Long Run actually enhanced his reputation if anything as he needed the run and jumped poorly at times but wasn't beaten far. If I could get 3s I'd lump on him for the Gold Cup. As for Kempton, I'm a big fan of Captain Chris and think he will be special when he takes in a trip. He's a massive danger to the favourite so 7s is a very fair each way price. I can't see him out of the frame.

Today was what makes Jump Racing so special. I had my conkers on Diamond Harry and Somersby but wasn't bothered about the money. I've always been a Denman rather than a Kauto man but that was great to watch.

I think he might just get away with the trip around Kempton but whether he'll get it well enough to win is another matter. I'm a Denman man myself, now for the Lexus on the 28th of next month I can't wait

I'm going to Ireland for that meeting. Had to see Denman jump a fence in person before he retires.

I was at Cheltenham when he was beaten by Nicanor in his hurdling days but haven't seen him chasing. I'll PM you my number before I set off.

I make Wayward Prince a reasonable each way bet in the 3.10 at Newbury tomorrow. This is one of the big handicaps of the jumps season and it looks a wide open renewal. My selection ran a cracking race in the big 3 mile novice chase at the Cheltenham Festival where he was being ridden some way from home. The extra two furlongs tomorrow will suit him and he only has to shoulder 10st8. I think he's well handicapped and 8s is worth taking.

Shalimar Frontero is a worthy each way bet in the 2.10 at Aintree over the National fences. This horse is only 5 but had nice novice chase form as a 4yo last year and has already ran twice in France this season suggesting he'll have an edge in fitness over some of these. He's trained by the handler I follow over the jumps and only carries 10st3lbs.

Sizing Europe is a job bet in the Tingle Creek.

Denman retired

My favorite horse of all time and the horse that got me into racing.
I'm gutted I won't get to see him at Leopardstown was really looking forward to it.

Happy retirement buddy

Same here. I'll never forget the his Hennessy's or his awesome display of power in the 2008 Gold Cup. I cried when I saw the reception he got after finishing second to Long Run last March. Happy retirement.

Medermit worth a bet in the big handicap tomorrow. He's got a fair weight but has decent form against good animals this year and this step up in trip should suit. 10/1 freely available.

Boxing Day Kempton is always my favourite thing about Christmas and tomorrow's card does not disappoint.

In the big race I am very keen on Captain Chris. This horse won the Arkle at Cheltenham back in March despite being outpaced at stages and has been crying out for this sort of trip. Long Run will be a tough nut to crack but he does make the odd mistake and is worth taking on at short odds. What makes my selection such a strong bet is the presence of Kauto Star and Master Minded in the race. I give neither of them much hope - the former was trained for his historic win at Haydock the other week and will not have a fitness advantage this time. The latter has little hope of staying.

In the Novice Chase at 2pm Grands Crus takes on Bob's Worth and Silviniaco Conti. Much as I admire Grands Crus he's 11/8 for this and I don't think he's done enough in his first two starts to justify such a short price and Bob's Worth looks very fairly priced at 11/4. A line through Cue Card suggests he has the beating of Silviniaco Conti and this step up in trip will really suit a horse who won the big staying hurdle for novice hurdlers at Cheltenham. He ran well in his first start over fences and will come on a ton for that.

I'm a Captain Chris man myself, 7's more than fair and he should be coming into this on the back of winning the Haldon at Exeter. Can't have Masterminded but wouldn't be surprised if Kauto won, he wasn't right at all last year and if anyone can get him back to his peak for this its Nicholls.
I was really impressed with Silviniaco Conti at Wincanton and the flat track and quick ground will be ideal. He wanted a proper trip even last year yet ran some crackers in hot races over 2m particularly behind Menorah and Cue Card at Cheltenham. He's been put away for this and I think he'a big price at 7/2.

Yeah, he's not a bad price as well. Like I said Grands Crus is too short so either of the other two are worthy punts.

It is. I did my conkers on the race but it was a very uplifting site seeing such a legend recapture past glories.

I'm having a mare this Jumps season but you have to keep lugging on and tomorrow Golden Silver is simply too big a price in the big race at Leopardstown at 1.25
Big Zeb is the rightful favourite but my selection has beaten him in the past and is the price he is because of a disappointing performance first time out. He jumped and travelled like he needed the race that day though and his trainer will have him far fitter for this Grade 1.

Kauto ffs you just can't bet against him... thought Long Run would have been too good for him today but he just doesn't jump well under pressure and Kauto is jumping like a dream. I was 100% certain the Gold Cup would be too far for him (and I'm still reasonably sure Long Runs stamina will prove too much) but now you just never know.

I'm tense about tomorrow. I backed Sprinter Sacre for the Arkle in April and intend to have a big position about him come the Festival. His jumping first time out at Doncaster was unreal at times and I haven't been this excited about a horse since Denman won his first Hennessy. It's not ideal him coming up against Peddlers Cross now as I wanted to fill up at 9/2 and 5s in the new year and if he wins as I expect him to he will be under 2/1 for the race by 2pm. But it is what it is and I think he's worth a bet at 6/4ish for this contest.

3/1 Long Run for the Gold Cup, fill yer boots lads. Sprinter Sacre was probably the most impressive chasing debutant I think I've ever seen Nearco hope he does the business for you.

Have had my biggest wager of the festive period on Any Currency at 25's for the Welsh National tomorrow so here's hoping.

3/1 is huge Evra. Some performance by Sprinter Sacre today Nearco, not surprised the Peddlers camp are considering stepping up in trip.

Festival fever is hotting up with just seven weeks to go and although Jan and Feb are my quietest punting months we have Festival Trails day on Saturday with top novice chaser and RSA fav Grands Crus taking on Diamond Harry, Time for Rupert and Captain Chris. If he wins he will probably take in the Gold Cup. Personally I think it will be tough for him and Captain Chris at around 5/1 is a good bet for this. He's my Gold Cup horse as well.

I'm a big fan of the horse and backed him in the King George but was quite disappointed with him. I'd have serious doubts about him staying the Gold Cup trip. Looking forward to seeing Broadbackbob in the Neptune trial I think he's the real deal.

To be fair to him they went no pace in the King George and being at the back meant he was in the wrong place when Kauto kicked on. I can't say I'm too confident at the moment as I'm down this season and in large part that's due to overrating last year's novice chasers.

Horrible day. I badly need a good Cheltenham.

At this stage I will be ignoring all second season chasers and i need one or two of the following to score at the Festival:

Simonsig - Supreme
Sprinter Sacre - Arkle. I'm balls deep in this one. Backed him throughout the summer at double figure odds. He's so exciting.
Last Instalment - RSA
Mikael D'Haguenet - World Hurdle (outright and without Big Bucks)
Rubi Light - Ryanair
Mount Belbulben - Albert Bartlett
